attracts me to Zwiefalten?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>What has always attracted me to Zwiefalten is the contrast between its location and its significance and features. That&#8217;s why I researched this exciting place very thoroughly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You are here in the heart of the Swabian Alb, far away from Stuttgart or Ulm, in the middle of nowhere, where foxes and hares literally say good night to each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don&#8217;t think anyone who doesn&#8217;t know or is specifically looking for it would expect such splendor in such a tranquil place, surrounded by fields and mountains. \ud83d\ude32<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two towers of the monastery church can be seen from afar as you drive down into the valley. Sometimes they are probably touristy, but not everyone has these places on their radar. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-90c0d282\"><h3 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">The location and significance<\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\">As previously mentioned, Zwiefalten is located in Germany, more precisely in the state of Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg in the heart of the Swabian Alb.<\/p>\n\n\n\t\t\t<div \n\t\t\tclass=\"wp-block-uagb-google-map uagb-google-map__wrap uagb-block-f41cac64     \"\n\t\t\tstyle=\"\" >\n\t\t\t\t<embed\n\t\t\t\t\tclass=\"uagb-google-map__iframe\"\n\t\t\t\t\ttitle=\"Google Map for \"\n\t\t\t\t\tsrc=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?q=kloster%20zwiefalten&#038;z=12&#038;hl=en&#038;t=m&#038;output=embed&#038;iwloc=near\"\n\t\t\t\t\twidth=\"640\"\n\t\t\t\t\theight=\"300\"\n\t\t\t\t\tloading=\"lazy\"\n\t\t\t\t><\/embed>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\">The name comes from Old German and means something like &#8220;two flowing waters&#8221; because the two streams Zwiefalter-Aach and Kessel-Aach meet here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The confluence of these two watercourses not only gave the village its name, but also influenced its development. The water power of these rivers was once used for mills and other technical facilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to its remoteness, it is a few kilometers away from all national freeways, including the larger cities in southern Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-image uagb-block-50ce8c52 wp-block-uagb-image--layout-default wp-block-uagb-image--effect-static wp-block-uagb-image--align-none\"><figure class=\"wp-block-uagb-image__figure\"><img decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten5-771x1024.webp ,https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten5-jpg.webp 780w, https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten5-jpg.webp 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 150px\" src=\"https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten5-771x1024.webp\" alt=\"Florians Reise \u2013 Mosaik \u2013 Zwiefalten im Herbst \u2013 Stiller Prunk in flie\u00dfenden Wassern\" class=\"uag-image-4602\" width=\"771\" height=\"1024\" title=\"Zwiefalten5\" loading=\"lazy\" role=\"img\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\">However, if you are traveling through the country away from the busy and congested highways, Zwiefalten is a central point in the country that you have to pass again and again on your way home, at least like me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I myself have often taken the route via Zwiefalten on my many business trips from Stuttgart southwards via Reutlingen and Sigmaringen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also because I always like to take a break halfway south for a coffee. \ud83d\ude0e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zwiefalten is simply a perfect place to take a deep breath and switch off, which is why I am not surprised that a monastery was built here and a clinic is run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-advanced-heading uagb-block-e144fba2\"><h3 class=\"uagb-heading-text\">The Imperial Abbey<\/h3><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\">The most well-known part of Zwiefalten is certainly the monastery complex of the abbey and the associated baroque church, to which my title today refers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-image uagb-block-0c4592ff wp-block-uagb-image--layout-default wp-block-uagb-image--effect-static wp-block-uagb-image--align-none\"><figure class=\"wp-block-uagb-image__figure\"><img decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten6-1024x768.webp ,https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten6.jpg 780w, https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten6.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 150px\" src=\"https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten6-1024x768.webp\" alt=\"Florians Reise \u2013 Mosaik \u2013 Zwiefalten im Herbst \u2013 Stiller Prunk in flie\u00dfenden Wassern\" class=\"uag-image-4607\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" title=\"Zwiefalten6\" loading=\"lazy\" role=\"img\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\">The monastery was founded by the Benedictines in 1089, so it now has almost 1000 years of history, even though it no longer exists in its original form as a religious house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It quickly developed into a powerful imperial abbey and was a cultural center where writings were copied and books were produced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The monastery experienced its heyday in the Middle Ages. It owned several extensive estates and enjoyed numerous privileges. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A milestone was the so-called Treaty of Speyer of 1570, which made Zwiefalten a recognized independent dominion without regional influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-image uagb-block-9cc080f3 wp-block-uagb-image--layout-default wp-block-uagb-image--effect-static wp-block-uagb-image--align-none\"><figure class=\"wp-block-uagb-image__figure\"><img decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten7-1024x768.webp ,https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten7-jpg.webp 780w, https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten7-jpg.webp 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 150px\" src=\"https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten7-1024x768.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"uag-image-4612\" width=\"1200\" height=\"900\" title=\"Zwiefalten7\" loading=\"lazy\" role=\"img\"><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\">As a result, the monastery survived the Reformation and was preserved, while many other monasteries were dissolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, secularization in the 19th century marked an extremely far-reaching turning point. In 1802, the monastery was dissolved and its property fell to the Kingdom of W\u00fcrttemberg. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The former monastery buildings found a new use: first as a &#8220;royal state mental asylum&#8221;, later as a state psychiatric hospital. \ud83d\udc4d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Part of the plant is still in this function today, which I can understand.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think a quiet, peaceful place like this is a good place to find yourself and get well again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-uagb-image uagb-block-e8d24164 wp-block-uagb-image--layout-default wp-block-uagb-image--effect-static wp-block-uagb-image--align-none\"><figure class=\"wp-block-uagb-image__figure\"><img decoding=\"async\" srcset=\"https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten8-768x1024.webp ,https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten8.jpg 780w, https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten8.jpg 360w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 150px\" src=\"https:\/\/florian-schreibt.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/Zwiefalten8-768x1024.webp\" alt=\"Florians Reise \u2013 Mosaik \u2013 Zwiefalten im Herbst \u2013 Stiller Prunk in flie\u00dfenden Wassern\" class=\"uag-image-4617\" width=\"900\" height=\"1200\" title=\"Zwiefalten8\" loading=\"lazy\" role=\"img\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\">The quiet splendor &#8230;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Zwiefalter Minster of Our Lady is one of the most important buildings of the German late Baroque, in my opinion as well as in the general opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Built in the 18th century, it was originally the monastery church of the Benedictine Zwiefalten Abbey. didn&#8217;t have the opportunity to experience the church with music, from the impressive organ or with singing.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But with these impressions, it will certainly make the overall the flowing waters<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If we now want to recover a little from the massive impressions of the monastery church, it is best to do so in the surrounding extensive park and the adjacent paths
